Siemens STEM Competition

The Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology was a prestigious national science research competition for high school students in the United States, administered by the College Board and supported by the Siemens Foundation. It aimed to recognize and reward outstanding scientific research and innovation among high school students.

🏆 Awards and Scholarships

The competition offered substantial scholarships to winners:

  • Grand Prize: $100,000 college scholarship for the top individual and top team.

  • Second Place: $50,000 scholarship.

  • Finalists: $25,000 scholarships. 

In addition to these, regional finalists received scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $6,000, depending on their placement.

📅 Timeline and Structure

  • Semifinalists: Approximately 300 students were selected based on their research reports submitted by a late-September to early-October deadline.

  • Regional Finals: Held at partner universities such as Caltech, MIT, and UT Austin, where semifinalists presented their research.

  • National Finals: The top 6 individuals and 6 teams were invited to Washington, D.C., for the final competition.

❌ Discontinuation

The Siemens Competition concluded in 2017, and there are no current plans for its continuation.
