
The Gates Scholarship
The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It aims to support outstanding, Pell-eligible minority high school seniors in the United States who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and academic excellence.
๐ Eligibility Criteria
To apply for The Gates Scholarship, applicants must:

Be a high school senior.

Be from at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American.

Be Pell-eligible (i.e., demonstrate significant financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA).

Be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.

Have a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at an accredited, not-for-profit, private or public U.S. college or university.

For American Indian/Alaska Native applicants, proof of tribal enrollment is required
๐ฐ Scholarship Benefits
The Gates Scholarship provides funding for the full cost of attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid and the Student Aid Index (SAI), as determined by the FAFSA or the methodology used by the student's college or university. This includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.
